Brenda Thompson was a tireless community advocate and champion for Scarborough, where she lived for over 20 years. She founded Scarborough Transit Action back in 2011 to fight for equitable transit for Scarborough with goal of creating a 50-stop Scarborough LRT Network (i.e. the original Transit City plan under former Mayor David Miller) which would be comprised of the Malvern Light Rapid Transit (LRT) line which would run from Kennedy Station to Malvern Town Center and replace the Scarborough RT, the Eglinton East LRT and the Sheppard East LRT. In order to ensure that such a network was accessible to all Scarberians she also tirelessly advocated for better TTC bus service in Scarborough, lowering TTC fares, stopping the TTC from contracting out jobs and holding elected officials accountable.

Brenda now lives in Montreal with her family, where she’s enjoying learning French and Quebec’s joie de vivre . Despite no longer living in Scarborough, her legacy of advocacy, determination and integrity continues to inspire community members to advocate for better transit for our beloved community.
